Dine With the ChampionsContrary to some more prominent football headlines, the St Kilda Football Club is turning around the reputation of players in the AFL, and in the winning spirit of life has pledged their ongoing support to the Sacred Heart Mission who are holding their annual fundraiser tonight.

This year’s Sacred Heart Mission event, Dine With the Champions 2007, will be hosted by Anthony Hudson and Des Dowling and will feature Dougie Hawkins from the Bulldogs, Matt ‘Goose’ McGuire of St Kilda FC, former Olympic swimmer and media celebrity Nicole Livingstone, V8 Supercar Champion Rick Kelly, AFL footy great Wayne Carey, Melbourne Victory’s Danny Allsopp and a couple of surprise mystery guests.

Sacred Heart is all about helping homeless or impoverished people, and have a number of programs to address their needs. The Dine with the Champions fundraising night will focus on the Mission’s Sports & Recreation Program, which provides opportunities for Sacred Heart’s clientele to participate in physical and aesthetic activities like football, cricket, basketball, sailing and art.

As part of the Sports & Recreation program the Sacred Heart Mission has a footy team, the Hearts, who don frequently-wedged shorts and jumpers in Saint’s colours, red, black and white.

As well as supporting Sacred Heart Mission, St Kilda Football Club also support a number of other charity and community groups including the Tackling Bowel Cancer Foundation and Southern Health - Monash Medical Centre.

The Dine With the Champions 2007 fundraising dinner is being held tonight in the Promenade Room at Caulfield Racecourse.
