Michael Jackson’s famous red Beat It jacket has ended up in Melbourne, after a fan bought it at a charity auction in the 80s.
A former Hollywood insider who now lives in Melbourne owns the iconic memorabilia, which she bought at a City of Hope charity auction in the early 80s for $600 US. “These days you’d immediately put it under glass,” she explained, “(But) back then it was different with memorabilia … I just wore it around for a couple of years because I liked it.”
Famous stars offer personal or signed items for charity regularly on auction sites like Charity Folks, Charitybuzz and Ebay For Charity, and the Melbourne owner of Michael Jackson’s jacket has no idea what the item is now worth.
