Sometimes you don’t even have to get out of that lay-back, La-Z-Boy to support the people who need it the most. You can sit on your laurels, watch Dancing With The Stars, relax and let someone else do all the work for a change.
Just by watching the seventies-type, sequined-jumpsuit clad competitors, you’re actually supporting ten charities. Read on…

With guests like Ryan Moloney, Rodger Corser and Stephen Dennis, it’s no wonder that last year’s Bubble Ball was so much of a success that they’re holding another one this year, the 2007 Asthma Foundation’s Blow Asthma Away Bubble Ball.
Paul O’Brien, who plays Jack Holden on the daily saga Home and Away, will host the formal, black tie optional evening. And there will be a litter of glitterati including a couple of cast members from Neighbours and a few of Melbourne’s best known and well loved comics. Read on…

Heart Week 2007, April 29 – May 5, is an initiative of The Heart Foundation, an independent organistion mostly funded by donations, who are dedicated to looking after everybody, in the literal sense of the word.
The Heart Foundation is responsible for well known Aussie icons like the Heart Foundation’s (healthy food) Heart Tick and the hard to forget, painfully endurable Jump Rope For Heart.
But this year, the Heart Foundation wants us to be responsible for ourselves, and have fun while we’re doing it!
They’ve given us license to get creative, get organised and get out there for the good of that big red beating organ that’s at the very centre of all of us, by getting our own events going for Heart Week. Read on…

2006 saw the first running of the Herald Sun/CityLink Run for the Kids, organised by race director Steve Moneghetti, and it was so enormously successful that it has now become an annual event.
Relying heavily on volunteers, this year’s event is set to be even bigger, having capped the participant field at 30 000 instead of last year’s 20 000.
There are two different lengthed courses, a 15.2 km for the more seriously practiced and a 3.4 scenic course for the fun runner. Read on…

Easter is poking its little chocolate bunny head around the corner and just up above the end of the setting summer sun, which means it’s time again for the Royal Children’s Hospital Good Friday Appeal.
This year’s telethon will be televised, as usual by Channel 7, on April 6 and broadcast by 3AW. With all the antics, frivolities and celebrity gangbusters we’ve grown to expect from the annual family fun day.
In addition to the telethon, there are heaps of other ways to give a little, and put a lot of joy back into the lives of the miniature people that make our world what it is. Read on…

The Australian Altruism Foundation’s Australian Humanitarian Awards are an especially important part of our culture because they provide positive role models, exemplify positive attributes of human nature, promote success and achievement through social concern and inspire people to embrace compassion, service, equity and friendship – the values of humanitarianism.
The Australian Altruism Foundation, through the presentation of these awards, aims to change the stereotypical view that humanitarianism is reserved to the fields of health care professionals, volunteers, carers or charities.
Â
Humanitarianism is an attribute that anyone can adopt and display in everyday contact with others. Read on…
